Genesis guitar virtuoso and Hall of Fame legend, Steve Hackett is set to release his latest album ‘The Night Siren’ tomorrow, March 24th, 2017 through InsideOut Music (Sony). As implied in the title, ‘The Night Siren’ is a wake-up call… the warning of a siren sounding in this era of strife and division. The new album features the already released singles, “Behind the Smoke” and “In The Skeleton Gallery”.
Today, with his European tour having just begun, a live rehearsal video of the instrumental track ‘El Niño’ has been launched, and you can see that here:

For Spock’s Beard’s 4th album, the group decided to make some headway commercially with an album of a few long songs and more short songs than on previous albums. The long 21 minute epic “The Healing Colors of Sound” was also broken up into 7 tracks on the cd. The band would release the track “Skin” as a single.
While not ranked alongside V and Snow as one of their best albums, there are a number of great songs on the collection including the title track, “Crack the Big Sky” and “The Healing Colors of Sound”.
Bassist Dave Meros talked about Day For Night with The Prog Report, “After Beware Of Darkness there was a feeling that we should try to crossover into the rock market a little more, so Kindness Of Strangers did that to a degree, and then Day For Night did it even more so. Day For Night got a little blowback from the hard line proggers for being “too pop”, but we thought Day For Night was an excellent record, and Day For Night was also the album where we first started touring in Europe and there was a lot of excitement there, so it wasn’t all bad news.”

Legendary progressive metal act Fates Warning celebrated the 30th anniversary of their third album, Awaken the Guardian, in 2016. To celebrate this milestone, Jim Matheos (guitar) reassembled the Awaken the Guardian-era lineup for two special festival appearances last year: Keep it True XIX and Prog Power USA XVII. Fortunately for fans that were not able to attend, each show was filmed and recorded in its entirety for the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray out April 28th via Metal Blade Records, Awaken the Guardian Live!
Directed and edited by Oliver “Bomber” Barth, the Keep It True XIX footage was recorded on April 30th, 2016 in Lauda-Konigshofen, Germany; the Prog Power USA footage was recorded on September 9th, 2016 in Atlanta, GA with sound recording and video editing by Kent Smith, plus audio and video recording services provided by Lucid Lounge Studios – Atlanta. Mixed and mastered by Bill Metoyer at SkullSeven Studio in North Hollywood, CA, Awaken the Guardian Live also features art direction, design, and artwork by Ioannis (dangerousage.com), making this a must-have piece for any fan’s collection. Awaken the Guardian vocalist John Arch comments about the experience: “It was truly a surreal experience being able to share the spirit of ‘Awaken The Guardian’ at these shows. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fans that have given back so much over the 30 year span since the album’s release. To all our family and friends, much gratitude.”
